HYDROTHERAPY

Physiologix offers hydrotherapy services which can be an extremely effective tool in your rehabilitation process. It can be used as a pain management strategy and utilises the health benefits of exercise with the resistance and buoyancy of heated water to create an easily controlled environment for your rehabilitation.

Hydrotherapy can provide a stepping stone in the process of intervention allowing you to move from a water based program to a land based program. It reduces joint stress allowing you to exercise with less weight related pressure on your body. Hydrotherapy is very beneficial post surgery once your surgical wounds have healed, as it allows weight bearing movements to be performed earlier than would be possible without the water based option. This leads to a reduction in pain and a quicker rehabilitation process.

The water based environment also provides resistance when exercising. When given the right program this will provide a number of benefits including:

  • Strengthening of muscles

  • Improved flexibility

  • Improved cardiovascular fitness

  • Increased blood flow

  • Faster recovery from injury

With the Physiotherapists at PhysioLogix swimmers and non swimmers of all age ranges and background can access the benefits that hydrotherapy provide.
