Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a referral?
No, However, if you do have a referral, please bring it along to assist our communication with your referring practitioner
What should I wear?
Wear loose, comfortable clothing that will not restrict your movement. Ideally wear clothes that allow us to see the injured area (e.g. a singlet for neck and shoulder problems or shorts for leg injuries).
Payment is required at the time of your appointment. You can claim your private health insurance refund on the spot using HICAPS, and only pay "the gap".
For an initial assessment including a thorough examination, subsequent treatment and take home exercise program, an $87 fee is charged. For a follow up appointment a $75 fee is charged
What should I expect in my initial appointment?
Your Physiotherapist will conduct a thorough assessment, first by asking a number of questions, and then assessing your movement and function. We discuss with you the diagnosis, the treatment plan, and likely time frames. The first session will also involve hands on treatment.
Your initial appointment will be 40 minutes. This allows time for a thorough assessment, accurate diagnosis, and evidence-based treatment.
Your appointment will be exclusively one-on-one time with you.
I will ask a lot of questions about your injury - a big part of making an accurate diagnosis comes from information you can tell them. Then we'll do some clinical and "hand-on" assessment to confirm the diagnosis.
I'll go to some trouble to try and explain what you've got, in language you can understand, "why you" & "why now", & most importantly "what to do about it".
You will receive treatment at the initial consultation that, more than likely, will include mobilisations, &/or stretching & strengthening exercises to continue at home. You will be given a plan for the on-going management of your injury, including the exercises you need to continue.
What should I expect at my follow up appointment?
At your appointment we will discuss the time frame for your complete recovery, and plans for further treatments if they are required.
Follow up appointments are 30 minutes long.
Where should I park?
PhysioLogix is located on Fitzgerald St with ample parking available behind the practice. The easiest way to acces the parking space is by Chelmsford Rd.
Do you treat Medicare Enchanced Primary Care (EPC) patients?
Yes. If you wish to attend under the Enhanced Prmary Care (EPC) scheme and intend to claim reimbursement from Medicare, you will require a valid referral from your GP prior to your appointment.
